Apr. 17 Devotion: Daily Conversation

Daily Conversation

Proverbs 8:6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

I heard something this weekend that really caused me to truly think about my daily conversation. Just simply what we talk about more than anything else. You can find several studies on how many words a person says each day. Some of the most recent you’ll find is that a person says an average of 16,000 words a day. If you have an average day, and say that many words, what do you think you talk about more than anything else? If we talk about our job more then that’s probably what we are going to think about more. If we think more about our hobbies then that’s probably going to be more of what we talk about. What we talk about and think about go hand in hand. How much of your daily conversation contains Jesus? How many times a day do you say the name Jesus? What about mentioning God? Do you ever talk about church? Your co-workers, your family, what would they say you talk about the most? Where would they say your joy comes from? Is it your favorite tv show, favorite hobby, or would they say it’s Jesus? Do you talk about the excellency of God? We can go to church every time the doors are opened, have a wonderful prayer life, and fully trust God in everything. If those things are true then it will come out in our speech. If we are that close to God we won’t be able to contain it, and our conversation would show it. What does your conversation say about you?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
