Apr. 5 Devotion: Why Run?

Why Run?

Acts 8:29-30

Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. [30] And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

Have you ever heard this said? “If you see me running then you better run also cause something is chasing me.” You might’ve heard something similar to that if not that exact thing. Not all of us, but a lot of us aren’t real fans of running. However, that’s exactly what the Bible says Philip did here to meet this Ethiopian eunuch. The Spirit told him to and he didn’t wait, didn’t argue about it, didn’t take his time! It says he ran to meet him and ask him questions about what he was reading. We are told to go. How many of us run to do what God asks of us? Why should we run?

First because we are running out of time. We know we are in the last days. We have no idea when our time will be up. We don’t need to be wasting any more time in telling others.

Second because there are some running away. No doubt that churches across the country would be filled and busting at the seams if all those who used to come would come. We might not know why they left, and does it really matter. We should just be that inviting and smiling face to try to get them back!

Lastly we need to run because so many are running in circles. I see people asking questions about the things going on in this world. You see more people heading to churches that can lead them down the wrong road. They then get hung up in their feelings, but nothing takes hold in their heart and they continue to search for something.

How quickly do we head into doing the things God has us to do? Do we jump right in and run to get it done so to speak, or do we find ourselves making excuses or just wanting to double and triple check to make sure God is sure in His instructions for us? Are we willing to run or we more interested in a crawl for God?

God bless you today!
