April 15 Devotion: You Go First

You Go First

We have a society obsessed with being first. People will race to be the first to report something. Regardless if it’s wrong or not they just want to get it out there. That leads to where we personally want to be first at everything. There is something we do need to be first in. We are closing out a wonderful week of revival. Some may want it to continue. Some hopefully want it to spread outside our walls. If we are to see those happen then it starts with each of us. Think of the verse so often referred to for revival:

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. It doesn’t say God will heal our land and then we humble ourselves etc. It starts with us praying and seeking Him. Then He will move. Think of this verse:

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

It doesn’t say God will move towards us if we want Him to. It doesn’t say He will move towards us even if we desire it. If we first draw nigh to Him, then He will move nigh to us. We must be first in making the move to God. Can you imagine what the move of God would look like if each of us individually made that move towards Him. What a change we’d see in our community and country if we’d each just sell out to God! If you want to be first in something then move first towards God and watch what He can do through you!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
