April 29 Devotion: Good And Bad

Good And Bad

Ecclesiastes 7:14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

I heard someone make the comment the other day that they never had a bad day. Just me thinking I’d say that’s impossible. If I was to wreck my car then I’d say that would be a bad day. Getting bad news I’d think would qualify as a bad day. However, I don’t think a bad day has to lead to a bad attitude. For some, if the day starts off bad then it just leads to a bad attitude all day. They will fail to realize how blessed they still are, they won’t look to understand what they can learn through a little adversity, and unfortunately they might even question God on why He would send them such a horrible day. We are quick to enjoy the good days, but how do we approach those bad days? Do we thank God for the good days or just blame Him for the bad? As long as we are living in prosperity then things are just wonderful. However, let a little adversity come our way and we tend to just lose our minds so to speak. God gives us a combination of good and bad to keep us humble possibly. You might even have a bad day cause you are slowly drifting away from Him and that might be what it takes to get you back to walking with Him. We have a tendency to just depend upon ourselves when everything is going good. It’s those bad days that help us rely more on Him. You might’ve even had a bad week altogether this week. It was sent from God the same way that good week was last week. What did you get from both? How did you grow in the Lord in both? Did you allow a bad day or week affect your attitude or your walk with the Lord? He sends both good and bad. God help us to walk so close to Him that we take them both in stride!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
