April 4 Devotion: It Was Good Enough For Jesus

It Was Good Enough For Jesus

Luke 11:1

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

One of the things I struggle with is that I will think of texting someone or calling someone at times when I’m not able to actually call or text. Then when the free time comes about I forget. Do we ever do the same thing with prayer. Prayer is to be taken very seriously as it is our time to talk with God. However, I wonder how many times we think things have to be “perfect” in order to pray for someone or some certain situation. If God lays something on our heart to pray about that doesn’t mean we have to talk to God by getting on our knees, bowing our head, and closing our eyes. I’ve had many conversations with the Lord while traveling. I most certainly don’t have that conversation with my eyes closed. In Scripture you’ll find Jesus prayed in a variety of places. In Luke 3 He prayed at His baptism. In Luke 6 you’ll find He prayed all night to God in a mountain. In Luke 5 He prayed in the wilderness. He prayed on the cross and we can find other places Jesus prayed. In our text it just says He was praying in a certain place. We don’t have to have a particular place to pray. It is a wonderful thing to have your own prayer closet, but that’s not the only place to spend time in prayer. I encourage you to just pray wherever you are today. If God lays something on your heart then just pray. Don’t wait for a better time or location. Just go to the Lord in prayer and see how He can move on our requests! Jesus prayed anywhere and so can we!

God bless!
