Aug. 19 Devotion: He’s Not Finished

He’s Not Finished

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

I wonder how much celebrating went on in hell upon the three words Jesus says here. “It is finished.” No doubt the devil though he had won. However, this shows the importance of words and why nothing is in the Bible by mistake. Jesus said, “It is finished.” The plan the Father had laid forth had been completed. Instead of sacrifices being made to push sins back the ultimate sacrifice had now been made. Jesus has given up the ghost and become the sacrifice for all sins. Jesus has laid down His life for everyone’s sin no matter how great or small. What He did not say was I am finished. Jesus has paid our sin debt, but He is not done. We know He arose on that third day with keys to hell! He defeated the devil and even has the keys to his house. If that’s not enough to celebrate we can shout for joy in knowing He’s still not finished because the Bible says He is coming again!

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

He’s preparing a place for us to spend eternity with Him. That second coming I believe is just around the corner. Praise the Lord today that we don’t serve some dead god. We serve a Savior that has risen, and is sitting on the right hand of the Father just waiting on the time to come and take the redeemed up out of here! Praise the Lord today that He’s not finished! Are you prepared and looking for His return?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
