John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
It is very easy in these troubling days to have a troubled heart. Wickedness abounds and we are surrounded by a lunacy unlike anything I have seen in my lifetime. Just when you think it can’t get any worse there seems to be a new level of low reached. I am troubled for our youth because they are being drawn in by this deception. I am troubled for our churches because they are debating sin as if it could be acceptable. I am troubled for our country for the political landscape has deviated so far away from statesmanship that we no longer are recognizable as the America I grew up in. I realize that this is a gloom and doom paragraph, but I rejoice in the fact that this is not the final word on the subject.
Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled.” Your life does not have to end in tragedy. You do not need to live in discouragement and depression. Do you “believe in God?” God is greater than what is happening in the world and the present evil does not win in the end. Everything that is going on is fully known by God and his victory is still assured. We may be approaching the end of the book but remember that he wrote the end of the book. Those that have put their faith in Jesus Christ become overcomers. They are on the winning side. We triumph in Jesus Christ. Lift up your head, your redemption draweth nigh. The day is rapidly approaching when every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:10-11) Evil may be having a heyday, but that day will end in defeat.
The question to ask is this. Do you know for sure that you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior? Truthfully answering yes to that question is the only answer that guarantees you victory. If you have answered yes, let not your heart be troubled. God is on the throne, and he is in control of the outcome. He wins. When you know him, you win with him. May you walk today in assured victory for our Savior is King of kings and Lord of lords.
