Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
One of my dear friends in the ministry is Bro. Samuel Philbert from St. Lucia. I have heard him say many times, “Well, how ‘bout that.” He says that when a certain thing that is being preached strikes a chord with his heart. It is an exclamation of exuberance. I could not help but hear him say that phrase in my ear as I read this scripture verse from Acts 20.
The Apostle Paul declared that Jesus Christ meant more to him than anything. The difficulties that he faced paled in comparison to his love and devotion for the Lord. His very life took a back seat to his service for the Lord. He had a joy that was unexplainable by human reasoning. He was dedicated to the cause of Christ and his love for Jesus Christ was the preeminent thing in his life. He wanted his very existence to be permeated with his commitment to his Savior. In other words, Paul was all in without reservation. When you see that kind of dedication, it is easy to say, “Well, how ‘bout that!” What an amazing testimony! What a wonderful example of being a real disciple of Christ! My question for us all to ponder is when others look at our life can they see such a wonderful commitment that it would cause them to say, “Well, how ‘bout that.”
In Christ’s Service,
