Aug 30 Devotion: What’s Important?

What’s Important?

Acts 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

We know the story. Paul and Silas find themselves in jail. They could have pity party. They could give up on God. Instead they sang praises to Him! They knew what God had done in their lives. They knew how important God was in their lives. There are certain things or people in our lives that we will go out of our way for. We have people that we would literally give the shirts off our backs for. Hobbies or things we enjoy that we will do all we can to partake in. How important is God and the things of God to you? It is very easy for us to say He is the most important thing in our lives. However, do we live that way? I believe we have been so blessed that at times we take things for granted and it isn’t as important to us as it should be. We don’t realize it’s importance until it’s gone. Think of the Word of God. We have countries all across this globe that don’t have a copy yet most of us have so many we couldn’t even tell you where they all are. It’s something that we read in something that we study but how truly important is it in our lives. Can you let a day go by without reading it? What about your worship time? Do you have to go to church or get to go to church? I look forward to getting to go to church each time we get to go. It’s a blessing to be able to go and just see how God moves in each service. He could move during a prayer, in singing, testimonies, and/or during the preaching of the Word! Just speaking of our church: We are told many times that what we have isn’t everywhere. If it’s not important to us then God could take it away. If we can just blow church off at anytime then how can we say it’s that important to us? I could list multiple other things pertaining to God, but I’ll just ask you a question. What’s important to you? How important is God and the things of God in your life?
