Love To All Saints
Philemon 1:5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
As you get a few more verses down we find Paul’s letter to Philemon revolves around Onesimus. At the beginning of the letter here we see Paul talk about the person Philemon is. I want to focus on what he says here in verse 5. We’d all want our testimony to show that we have love and faith toward Jesus! When we love Jesus the way we should it shows. However, what would our fellow saints say about us? This verse concludes with 2 rather simple words. However, those words are very powerful: “All saints.” How much love and faith do we show towards all saints? Have you ever heard someone utter the phrase: I love them because the Bible says I’m supposed to? Is that a true love to a fellow saint? Don’t get me wrong. We all have different level of friendships with different people. There is nothing wrong with that. We have different things in common with different people so we will naturally be drawn to different people. That doesn’t mean we should treat people differently. It doesn’t mean we should show less love or care for those that we aren’t “close” to. Does our love truly show out to all saints? Are we faithful to all saints? Do we pray for them the way we should? Do we lend a shoulder or a hand to all saints when we can? Do you show love to all saints or just those who you consider close friends?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
