Expectations
Psalm 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
We deal with different expectations every day. We have certain expectations each day on our job. We have expectations of those around us. We have expectations of our kids or spouses. We even have certain expectations of God. We expect Him to meet our needs. Hopefully, we show up at service with expectations of God showing up and doing something out of the ordinary. This time of year brings about another type of expectations. Most of our kids that are in school might get some mid-term grades or progress reports. I remember back when mine were in elementary school they would get progress reports throughout the year. These reports would typically have a couple columns on there labeled meets or exceeds expectations. We judge things the same way. A restaurant you go into, or a business you use. You might be requested to give a review. That review may ask different questions and have you answer it met or exceeded your expectations. It might even give you the option of just showing you were dissatisfied by saying needs improvement. I believe it goes without saying God goes beyond exceeding expectations. God’s grace and mercy, His many blessings He bestows upon us. His goodness towards us. It all goes well beyond what I could ever imagine and deserve! However, what about when it comes to us? If you were to get a progress report for your Christian walk what would God have on your report? Would it say “meets expectations”? Would you exceed expectations? Or would you need improvement?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
