Dec. 18 Devotion: Never Late

Never Late

John 11:20-21 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. [21] Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

I work with Someone who wears a shirt in all the time that says “aways late, but worth the wait.” We all probably have those people in our family or just know people who seem to be late for everything. I’ve heard the expression before that so and so will probably be late to their own funeral. I’m glad I serve a Savior who’s never late!! Think about this familiar portion of Scripture here after Lazarus has died and Martha meets and tells Jesus that had he been there Lazarus would still be alive. She looked at it as he was late and had missed the opportunity to save her brother. Can I say no matter what decision it may be or answer we’re waiting on, the Lord always shows up right on time. We may lose our patience, or try to get out ahead of him and mess things up. When we are willing to wait on him, His direction always comes right when it is needed. I’d venture to say that most of us when making a decision want the answer yesterday. We’re not too interested in waiting on the Lord. Even if that answer comes way later than what we want, it’s still right on time when it comes from the Lord. Perhaps you’re struggling with a decision right now. It could possibly be something you’ve been praying about for months or even years. Friend don’t allow the devil to lead you into making bad decisions or trying to do things on your own. Just continue to wait on the Lord. Because when the answer comes, it will be right on time.

Gods bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
