Dec 9 Devotion: Ornaments of Grace!

Text- *Prov. 1:8-9: My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

The Word of God is precious and the necessary source of survival for the Christian. The more it is applied, the more it transforms ones life into the Heavenly Ambassador Christ desires for them to be. The attributes attained from the Scriptures are truly Ornaments of God’s Grace!

*Ornaments of Grace!

*such as…

1. Humility!

*a humble servant is an…

-utilized servant

-unusual servant

-unctionized servant

2. Harmony!

*Ps. 133:1- BEHOLD, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

*unity comes by…

-preferring others

-praying for others

-pardoning others

3. Happiness!

True happiness is not predicated on looking inwardly or outwardly, but upwardly!

4. Holiness!

*I Thes. 4:7- For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

*II Cor. 7:1- HAVING therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

*I Thes. 3:13- To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

“Holiness is the characteristic of the man after God’s own heart.” -Oswald Chambers

“If I make personal holiness a cause instead of an effect I become shallow, no matter how profound I seem. It means I am far more concerned about being speckless than about being real; far more concerned about keeping my garments white than about being devoted to Jesus Christ.” -Oswald Chambers

5. Honesty!

*Eph. 4:25- Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

6. Heaviness! (a burden for others)

*Gal. 6:2- Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

7. Hope!

*I Pet. 1:3- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

*Titus 2:13- Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Let the Word of God dwell in you richly and these ornaments as well as many others will be prevalent in your life!
