Feb. 14 Devotion: Love

Love

1 John 4:10,19 [10] Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. [19] We love him, because he first loved us.

Today is a day that a lot of people will celebrate love wit their significant other. People will buy gifts to exchange, prepare food or go out to a nice dinner. All in an attempt to show their significant other how much they love them. You could go to Jeff Ruby’s, or even buy them a new vehicle, but nothing we do today can show love more than what Jesus has done for us in showing His love for us. I just want to use these 2 verses to show how much God loves us. Verse 10 talks about sending His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. It also talks about it in John:

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Man had sinned in the garden. Man had ruined the fellowship that God intended. Yet, God still made a way! Even through our failures God made a way to restore that fellowship. God sent His son because He loves us! That bring me to verse 19. Have you ever really stopped and thought about that verse? Just speaking for myself. He knew what bad thoughts would be yet, He still loved me first. He knew how I would fall short daily but, He still loved me first. When you think about your significant other they had to earn your love. They might’ve even had to prove that they loved you before you expressed your love for them. God, however, loved us first. He knows everything about us, and He still loved us first. Do you love Him today? How thankful are you for His love? How much thought do you put into the fact that through all our times of falling short, through our failures, Everyday we should be thankful for His love! He loves us with a love that is unmatched by anything in this world!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
