Feb. 18 Devotion: Your Love

Your Love

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

In my last devotion we discussed God’s love toward us. Today I want us to think about our love. Who do we direct our love towards? Love is an easy word for some to just throw around. Do we show those around us that we love them? We can’t tell our spouse we love them and then treat them bad. We can’t tell our kids we love them, yet never show it. Do we pray for our friends? Do we show them that we love them and they too hold a special place in our heart? What about loving the world? We are told to love our neighbor. Do we? Our text verse tells us God loves the world. Do we love the world the way we should? We’ve heard the statement: hate the sin, but love the sinner. Is that our true mindset? If we truly love those around us then we show it. There are a variety of ways we might show those around us our love for them. The best way we can show the world is to give them the Gospel and pray for them. God’s Word doesn’t tell us to condone their sin, but we are instructed to love them. If we never share the Gospel, never pray for their salvation, never go out of our way to see them get to Christ, how can we say that we love the world the way we should. We can all agree this world has gone crazy. We can be in agreement that it can be real hard to love some of the people in this world on a lot of days. However, if we were honest, we ourselves are hard to love on a lot of days also. Christ still loves us on those days. How much do we show the world we love them and how burdened are we for their souls?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
