Feb. 7 Devotion: All Isn’t Most

All Isn’t Most

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Have you ever told a half truth? You possibly were asked a question and you answered, but just didn’t give the complete answer. If you’re a parent think to a time when maybe you’ve asked your kids if they cleaned their room. They might say yes. They picked up a few things so in their mind they cleaned. However, it isn’t clean. This can be so frustrating and aggravating. How do you think the Lord feels when we don’t trust Him whole heartedly? We are faced with a problem, and we think we already know the solution without consulting God. Perhaps we are afforded some type of opportunity on the job and because we feel we deserve it so we don’t even make it a matter of prayer. We often think we have a good grasp on things and just lean on our own understanding and go with the flow so to speak. That’s not how we are instructed to go about things in the Word of God. Our text verse lays it out completely. We are to trust in the Lord with ALL our heart! It doesn’t say to trust in Him when it’s convenient. It doesn’t even say to trust in Him most of the time. It also doesn’t say to trust in Him with most of our heart. It simply says all! If we trust in Him with all our heart then in turn we will trust in Him in all things. We won’t make decisions without consulting Him. We won’t try our own solutions to our problems without seeking the Lord. We put ourselves through more worry and pain than we need to because we trust in Him with most of our heart, and most of the time. Giving Him most of our heart simply falls short of where we need to be. Give Him your “all” today!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
