Jan. 13 Devotion: Bear One Another’s Burdens

Bear One Another’s Burdens

Galatians 6:1

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

It is very common in today's society and even in the church that if someone messes up that we're not going to help that person. We can throw people away almost over nothing, but that is not the plan that God has. He says that we are to restore these people and to try and bring them back into fellowship. God is not giving his stamp of approval on sin. He is saying if they are overtaken in a fault. There are many reasons why we are to restore these people. We are in the restoring business and not the destroying business. The first reason is that God commanded us to. He told us to restore people. if you are in the restoring business it will reveal the type of Christian you are. You are never more like God than when you are interested in people. You should restore people because you don't know that you might be the next person who will need to be restored back into fellowship. You should be in the restoring business because it brings unity into the family of God. The Bible instructs us to take heed lest we fall. It's very easy to become hardened to the needs of others, but remember we are all human and make mistakes.

God bless
