Thinking
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
What’s for supper? What’s going on in the government? What’s going on at my job? Where are gas prices going? How high can grocery prices go? I could list similar questions all day. Some can be very trivial while others at times can feel are a lot more serious. We spend so much time thinking and worrying about things that we can’t change. How much time do we spend thinking on the things of God? How much time do we spend thinking on the things our text verse talks about? We should be aware of what’s going on in the world, but it shouldn’t consume us. Instead of focusing on all the bad what if we thought about how good God is. What if we focused on how God could use us to do something in this world? We could become consumed by the things of God instead of the worries of this world. Our pastor preached this past week about prioritizing in the new year. What if one of the things we also prioritized was our thinking. Instead of sitting around thinking about worldly things we instead think on Godly things. Thinking on these things could change our attitude, it could change our countenance, and change our outlook. What do you focus most of your thoughts on?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
