Jan 2 Devotion: I Think I’ll Just Go with God

1 John 1:5-7

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The title of a song written by Kyla Rowland came to mind this morning as I sat down to write this devotion. “I Think I’ll Just Go with God”. That should be our goal for this day and every day. We have begun a new year with its opportunities and challenges. We can face these times however we choose, but I know it will be better if we “Just Go with God”. He is the Light and his guidance is always right. His way is always based on truth, righteousness, love, and holiness. Following his path leads to a life that brings honor and glory to him. It is a life that is full of purpose and meaning. It is a life that is not squandered on trivial things but is based on eternal, spiritual things. According to the above text it is a life that is full of fellowship. You do not travel alone when you “Go with God”. You do not grope in darkness trying to find some elusive answers for life’s difficulties but are walking in the clarity of God’s word, for his word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. (Psalm 119:105) To “Go with God” is a pure endeavor for his blood “cleanseth us” and we are kept by the power of God. (1 Peter 1:5) Life is full of choices and we have all made some poor ones along the way but as we look forward to the days ahead let us make a great choice. “I Think I’ll Just Go with God.”

Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
