Acts 16:22-24– And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
Here we find Paul and Silas have been beaten, placed in a nasty dungeon, and feel deserted. I can only imagine how quickly Satan begins to whisper lies and poison in their ears causing fear and discouragement.
What will get the devil off your back!
*Satan is sly and crafty. He’s been perfecting his devices for a long time; yet, through the things of God we can overcome him!
To get him off your back, we must use the tool of…
1. Prayer! -v. 25a: And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed,
2. Praise! -v. 25b: and sang praises unto God:
3. Promises!
Rom. 10:17– So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
4. Persistence!
James 4:7-8a- Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
5. Patience!
Isa 40:31- But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
6. Partners!
*ones you can count on such as…
-Christ
-Church family
-Confidant (a true friend)
7. Plead the Blood!
**There are some things we must avoid, do not…
-Panic!
-give Place to him! (listen/ entertain him)
-Pine! (doubt)
We are “more than conquerors through Jesus Christ our Lord”! We have already been granted victory and grace for every storm and trial! May we choose to trust the provisions of God and live in victory no matter the circumstances! Keep looking up!
