The Goodness of God
Romans 2:2-5
But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. [3] And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? [4] Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? [5] But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Goodness is kindness, mercy or the state of being good.
Forbearance is the command of temper or restraint of passions. The Bible says in Roman's 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
It is the goodness of God that leads us to the place where we are able to repent and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour. In Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Goodness is one of the fruits of the Spirit we should be thankful that God has the ability to forbear. So that when we were lost, God in his wrath, didn't shut-off his mercy and grace and give us what we so rightfully deserved. Christian friends, when hard times come remember we that are born again have the greatest gift: eternal life!
