What They Want To Hear
2 Timothy 3:7-8 [7] Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. [8] Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
The more we study the Bible the more we realize that there is so much that we have to learn. If we seek to learn there are things God will reveal to us as we study. Unfortunately, there are also those things that God might reveal that some just choose to ignore. There are times that God will attempt to show someone the truth and instead of believing they will choose to believe their own truths. For some it’s they just believe they are too educated. They think they know more than God and refuse to accept His truths. Too many of those then seem to seek out their own teachers like it talks about in our text verse for 2 Timothy 4. They will search out teachers or “preachers” that instead of preaching the truth will tickle their ears with what they want to hear. Under no circumstances am I trying to say every new mega church so to speak is this way, but most certainly a lot of them are. You see the teaching or preaching that goes on there and it’s not convicting anyone. It’s not spreading the Gospel of Christ. Too much of it is there to make people look at themselves as good moral people just because they attended church. People seem to flock to those because it doesn’t force them to deal with their sin. It doesn’t force them to face the truths of the Bible. If we want to be the Christian God desires us to be we must seek His truths, and obey His truths. If we desire worldly pleasures more than His truths then you’ll find yourself seeking out teachers that’ll tickle your ears.
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
