Jan. 26 Devotion: When Truth Is Punished

When Truth Is Punished

Daniel 3:21-23

Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. [22] Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego. [23] And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

Have you ever been in one of those situations where someone has been talking about someone else and you have to make a decision. You either have to stand up for that person, remove yourself from that situation, or just go along? That adult peer pressure I guess you could say.

What about when it comes to conversations about the Lord? How often do you find yourself in conversations with people who don’t believe the way you do and want to make fun of or ridicule your faith? Are we willing to say something and make a stand to them? While it can be easier in a one on one basis, what happens when it becomes a broader situation? What if standing for the truth becomes punished? We might not be thrown into a fiery furnace, but what happens if your place of employment tells you that you can’t work there and talk about the Lord? What if your family no longer wants to invite you to get togethers due to your beliefs? We have a true divide in society today between good and evil.

Isaiah 5:20-21

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! [21] Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

It amazes me what we’ve seen our country become over the last few years. The things that people will believe in. The things that even so called Christians are willing to accept! The voice of evil seems to be getting louder. Are we willing to let our voice be heard? There could be a price to pay for standing for the truth! Are you willing to stand?

God bless you today!
