Proverbs 27:1 – “ Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”
As I wrote this devotion the media and the world have been shocked by a truly shocking and traumatic event that happened on a football field in front of a national audience. The world tuned in to see an exciting Monday Night Football game, but instead witnessed a tragic event with lifelong repercussions. A family had all intent of watching their talented and beloved family member play in a football game and now they sit by a phone or hospital bed waiting to hear if their son, brother, or grandchild will even live to see another day. All day, I’ve only been able to wonder if a 24-year-old man I’ve never met ever had the chance for someone to share the gospel with him.
Tragic events just like this happen countless times every day. Each day, millions either pass into eternity or suffer life-altering events. My question to you is, “what are you doing about it?”
Don’t believe the lie that you can get to it tomorrow. Today may be your last opportunity. Love life expecting that tomorrow will not come. Treat every day as your last chance to shine a light for Jesus. Treat others as if it is their last day on the earth.
Only with that urgency and diligence can we be truly effective for the cause of Christ. When we get serious about God’s business, stand back and see what God is able to do without us getting in the way.
Your fellowservant in Christ,
Bro. Jordan Foster
