Jan. 7 Devotion: How Big?

How Big?

Genesis 22:1-2 [1] And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. [2] And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. Genesis 22:15-18 [15] And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, [16] And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son : [17] That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; [18] And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Looking at verse 1 of our text it mentions “after these things”. All these things is what God had done for Abraham up to this point. Abraham had been blessed abundantly by God. Then in the previous chapter we see Abraham is blessed with Isaac. We know then God tells Abraham to take Isaac into the land of Moriah and offer him a burnt offering unto the Lord. Abraham does this and we know he is stopped by the angel if the Lord in verse 11. That brings us to the second part of our text verses today. In verses 15-18 we see Abraham is now going to blessed in his blessings. His seed is going to be multiplied and by his seed shall all nations will be blessed. All because he had obeyed the Lord’s voice! We are a blessed people. Our church has certainly been blessed! We’ve seen God touch our church through revivals! We’ve seen prodigals come home, people be born again, and God help many in multiple ways! Would you like to see just how much bigger God could meet with us and bless the church? Jesus hasn’t called the church out of here yet so I believe He still wants to save the lost. I believe it’s His desire to bless us beyond what we can even imagine. Ephesians 3:20-21 [20] Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, [21] Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. It takes us obeying His voice like Abraham did. We’ve seen God work at our church in multiple services through one persons prayer, one persons prayer, through the preaching, etc. God could be speaking to you about something you need to do. You might have an Isaac you need to lay down. You might need to surrender to God’s will for your life. Your obedience could be the key to God doing something we’ve never seen before in 2022. Are you willing to be obedient to God and see just how big He could show up and show out in 2022?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
