July 10 Devotion: Created With A Purpose

Created With A Purpose

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

In February 1980, the U.S. Olympic hockey team earned the gold medal at Lake Placid, New York, with a 4-2 win. Not many people remember that they beat Finland in that game. It’s the semifinal game verse the Soviets that everyone remembers. It is still considered one of the greatest upsets in sports history. Before his team’s game against the Soviet Union, U.S. coach Herb Brooks told his players, “You are born to be a player. You are meant to be here at this time. This is your moment.” We all have moments we were created for. It might not be on a stage like an Olympic hockey game. It could be something far greater. It could be the moment to share the Gospel with someone, or just to be there for someone. The Bible tells us that God created us in his own image. We weren’t made by mistake. No matter the joking at times, none of us are here by accident. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Coach Brooks gave his great quote, but it wouldn’t have mattered had the team not gone out and executed the game plan set before them. It took them following through for it to be the upset it was. What are we doing to follow through on Gods plan for our lives? God created us in His image and has a plan for us to carry out. Do you seek His will to know and carry out this plan? If you know what it is are you doing all you can to execute that plan? God will do for us what we can’t, but there are still steps we must take. This world can get you down and cause you to feel like you have no purpose. That’s just not the case. God created each of us with a purpose in mind. As long as we are here Gods not done with us and can use us for His glory because we are created for His purpose!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
