Pray
Luke 22:31-32 [31] And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: [32] But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
While there are many negatives to some of the technology we have today one of the greatest blessings is being able to keep up with people hundreds of miles away. We can FaceTime loved ones, send messages to friends, and so much more than we could even just 20 years ago. That’s one of reasons why so many will say they can’t get rid of social media is they want to be able to keep up with loved ones and friends that they are apart from. If we wouldn’t want to give up social media and such in order to stay in contact then why are we so quick to give up prayer? Just the word pray is mentioned over 300 times in the Bible. If you add up all the uses of it it’s over 500 times. It’s mentioned enough we should see it’s importance. Prayer is more than listing our wants. It’s more than just wanting blessings upon our meal. Prayer is our avenue to talk with God. If we’ve not talked with someone for a few days we will make sure to give them a call or text to make sure they are ok. We don’t want to get too far behind on the gossip or afraid we might miss something that goes on. How long will we go without talking with God? Think about our text verse. Jesus tells Simon that the devil is after him, but that’s He has prayer for him! The Jesus that loves us, cares for us, watches over us, is praying for us! He wants the best for us in our lives. If He thinks that much of us, how much do you truly love Him and talk with Him on a daily basis? Take away church time and praying before meals; how much time do you truly spend in prayer and talking with God on a daily basis? Prayer is what it will take to change things in our country as well as our own lives.
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
