July 30 Devotion: Hiding From God

Hiding From God

Genesis 3:8-11 [8] And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. [9] And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? [10] And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.[11] And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

The serpent has been in the garden and gotten Adam and Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit. Now they find themselves hiding from the presence of God because they are naked. God didn’t ask Adam in vs 9 where he was because He didn’t know. God knew what was going on and where they were. Ask yourself that question today. Where are you? Not physically, but in your relationship with God? Where would God say you were? Second, look at the question God asked in vs 11. Who told thee that thou wast naked? I’ll ask you today. Where are you getting your information? We have a society today that has information overload. Unfortunately, we are getting too much of that information from the world! You have people trusting the news, trusting “celebrities”, trusting anything but God. God’s Word has sufficient information for our lives! Is your relationship where it needs to be? Is your information coming from the right place?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
