Matthew 9:36-38 – “36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
Intro –
Jesus saw the multitude as sheep without a shepherd.
Jesus had compassion on them.
Jesus likened the crowd to a Harvest.
I. Plenty of work to be done –
The Harvest truly is plenteous – verse 37
The Harvest is an enormous task.
II. Proclaiming the shortage of Labourers
The Labourers are few – verse 37
The abundance of loafers – not many Labourers
III. Prayer is necessary to gain Labourers
Pray ye therefore – Lord send Labourers
Pray for a motivation of God’s people.
IV. Personal Labourers must be God sent.
The Lord of Harvest – send Labourers – verse 38

V. Possibility of loss of burden, compassion

VI. Pushing urgency is unmistakable.
