June 13 Devotion: It Makes A Difference

It Makes A Difference

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

As you think about the atrocity that is pride month I’d challenge you to think back a few years. At one time homosexuals were asking to just leave them alone. “Stay out of our bedroom” was something I can recall hearing. They supposedly just wanted to not be judged. Now here we are years later and a whole month is dedicated to this wickedness. It shows how what you put into people will begin to take hold in their hearts and minds. You used to never see it on tv. Then slowly you’d see it added into every other show. Now, it’s in every show. It was around 2004 that the first state legalized same sex marriage. Then around 2009 Twitter and some other social media apps became more prevalent. You can not look at social media and fail to realize how strongly they’ve pushed a wicked agenda. That agenda led to 2015, where the USA ruled for same sex marriage. This all goes to what we’ve seen pushed in front of us. As people see it accepted more they then believe it’s ok, especially a younger generation. That’s what makes our text verse so important! It doesn’t say a little verse or two. It says “Thy word.” How much of His Word do we have hid in our heart? How much Scripture do we have placed away in our memory bank? Those things don’t come by going to church on Sunday. I’ve read where young people can spend upwards of 10 hours a day on handheld devices. I’m sure not all that time is bad, but plenty of it is. How much time in a day do we spend putting God’s Word in us? If we are going to be the Christian God wants us to be then that is going to take us reading, studying, and applying God’s Word to our lives! Can you tell me your nightly tv schedule? Could you tell me all 10 plagues? Can you tell me the starting players for your favorite team? Can you tell me any of the lineage of Christ? What’s more important to us? What are we hiding away in our heart?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
