Your Talents
Matthew 25:20-21 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. [21] His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
If you’re a sports fan you’ll hear it said often: God given talent. There are some people that things just come naturally to them and they can make something look easy with very little effort. Then there are some that have to work extremely hard in order to have any success. Talent isn’t just in sports. We all have certain talents that God has blessed us with. Some have a great talent to sing, play piano, some have a talent to be able to talk to anyone, some are great teachers, etc. The question today is not only are you using your talent for the glory of God but are you investing in that talent? You’ll hear of athletes and all the time they put in practicing their craft. How much time do we devote to the talents we use for Gods glory? You might think you can’t practice just talkkg if you have the ability to have never met a stranger so to speak. How much time do you put into certain mannerisms and trying to cut out word fillers? I’ve met multiple people who have the gift to gab you might say. There are some you can listen to for a time and some you can’t wait for them to shut up. A lot of that has to do with how their speech comes across and just how intelligent their conversation may sound. How often do you practice an instrument or singing? Do you ever teach or preach a lesson to yourself and look for ways to improve your delivery or knowledge of a subject. We should invest in what God has blessed us with. We like to invest our money to see it grow and we should do the same with the talents God has given us so then they too will grow and we can bring honor and glory to Him!!
