June 26 Devotion: The Gift Of Time

Gift Of Time

Psalm 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 89:47-48 Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain? [48] What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

When as a child I laughed and wept, Time crept. When as a youth I waxed more bold, Time strolled. When I became a full grown man, Time RAN. When older still I daily grew, Time FLEW. Soon I shall find, in passing on, Time gone. O Christ! wilt Thou have saved me then?

Amen.

The above poem is by Henry Twells. I believe it accurately sums up how quickly life goes by. I think back years ago and I couldn’t wait to “grow up.” The older I get now it feels like time goes by so quickly that you hardly notice. We get so caught up in our daily routines and feel like we have so much to do that we feel like we don’t have enough time to get things done. We all want more hours in the day and more days in the week. It feels like time goes by so quickly we can never get things done. Regardless of how quickly time may go by it is all we have in the moment. If you’re reading this then God has blessed you with another day. What are you going to do with it? Will you sing of His mercies? Will you let others now how faithful He is? Every morning God wakes us it affords us new opportunities to do something for Him. It gives us another day to become a better Christian for His glory. It gives us another day to just be a better human! You’ve been given the gift of time today. Will you use that gift today or waste it?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
