June 28 Devotion: Truth And Prayer

Truth and Prayer

Matthew 28:19-20

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I’ve really struggled all week on what to do the devotion on today. I’ve had multiple thoughts go through my mind and looked at a several portions of Scripture. The last few weeks I’ve had a common theme come up a variety of ways in my life. From family to friends to a conversation at the jail. It has all revolved around the Gospel and salvation. Some asking would a so called good person really end up in hell. Then looking at people who believe that being good really is good enough. How do we approach all these situations? How do we get “good” people saved?(we know we aren’t saving them, but they need to see their need for salvation). All we can do is show them the truth and pray for them. When we see our text verses we must realize we are just instructed to go and teach. That’s all we can do. Share the truth with them and pray that the Lord opens their eyes. How we share that truth is something we must pray about. Especially with those that might not see their need for a Savior! There are some you might be able to lay it out plainly and tell them that if they don’t get saved they are going to hell! Be that blunt and upfront with them. There are some that if you are that blunt it could turn them completely off from listening. They have to realize their lost condition first. Talking with them could be as simple as asking them if they can go back to a time and place in their lives that they trusted Christ. Not believing that He exists, but put their faith and trust in Him. Allow that to open a door on why they may believe they are ok or why they believe that they will go to heaven. Then use Scripture to show where they may be lacking in their understanding.

Each case can be different based on them as well as the type of relationship you have with them. Regardless of the situation just give them the truth and pray for them. The truth is what’s needed and praying is all we can do. We can’t force them to get saved or turn their life around.

God bless you today!
