Effective Help
Numbers 11:14-17 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. [15] And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness. [16] And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. [17] And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
Have you ever worked a job where you just got to the point where you felt overwhelmed? Ever been in a leadership position where you felt like you just couldn’t lead people anymore? We see here Moses has become burdened down with leading the people. You look at verse 15 and you see just how overcome he was feeling. God didn’t then remove him from the situation. He didn’t tell him he had failed. Instead, the Lord sent him help. He instructed Moses to gather some of the elders and bring them in God will place the burden of the people on them as well. There may come times when one of the most important things we can do is not only realize that we can’t do something alone, but also to ask for help. God will place people in our lives that we can turn to at times when we need help. There are times physically, mentally, and spiritually that we are faced with situations that can overwhelm us. Some of those times might require us to lean on someone else for some help. There is no shame in asking for help, and it can show strong leadership if we recognize when we need the help and then ask for it. You might have something in your life now that you are facing that has you struggling to see past it. You don’t see how you can get past it or overcome it. It might not be that God is going to remove that situation from you. It could be God has placed people in your life that you need to lean on for help. Seek Gods guidance on who those people might be in your life if you don’t know.
