Filthy Communication
Colossians 3:8-10 [8] But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. [9] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; [10] And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
When we hear people share their testimony and talk about being born again we often hear 2 Corinthians 5 being referred to in being a new creature. Someone who truly gives their heart to Christ will be a new creature. We should have different desires, a different attitude, act different, as well as different communication. I want to focus for just a moment on that communication. When we think of filthy communication I think we just think of vulgar or foul language. Filthy can also mean disgusting. I’d venture to say it’s disgusting if we are talking about others. It’s disgusting if we are putting others down. We can look right and act right, but if the communication coming out of our mouth is worldly then that’s what is going to be remembered. That is what is going to be spread around: our words. Our words go a long way in our relationship with others. If our speech doesn’t glorify Christ how can we expect others to believe things we have to say when we try to share Christ with them. If our words constantly tear others down how can we expect other believers to come to us in their time of need? Does your speech represent Christ the way it should?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
