Specificity Of Prayers
When it comes to certain prayers we offer up to God we will get very specific about those prayers. It might be praying for someone’s healing, praying for a new job, praying for salvation, etc. I could list many more things that we will get very specific with our requests. I don’t believe anyone that truly loves God, and truly loves others would ever just offer up a prayer like this: God pray for all the people in my church. Amen. Now we might not know the needs of everyone in our church family or those around us. But I believe those that we do know we will mention by name and will mention the request specifically if we know it. What about when it comes to revival? Do you send up a generic: Lord send revival. You know we need it? That way you can say you prayed for revival and that makes you feel better about yourself? When was last time you prayed for something specific about it? Lord, help any who may be back slidden. Lord send a prodigal home. Lord, help ME be what I need to be for revival. What if we prayed for God to get bigger than we’ve ever seen before. I want to see Him get so big we can smell Him like pastor has talked about. What if we just prayed He got so big that He just fills His sanctuary.
2 Chronicles 5:13-14 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord ; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord ; [14] So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.
Not just “revival”, but what specific thing are you praying for God to do during, after, and even leading up to revival.
