A Difference In Resources

2 Timothy 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them ;

Need a new recipe for dinner? Google it! Need to learn how to fix a dryer? Look it up on YouTube. We’ve reached a point in society where we have loads of information at our fingertips. One thing I have learned in watching YouTube is that for many things there are different videos that show a variety of ways to accomplish your task.

What about the things of God? We have so many commentaries, devotionals, and many other things to learn more about God and what He wants for our lives. These are wonderful tools, but should not cause us to put down our Bible! When we have those valleys in our lives it’s not that commentator that gives us peace, it’s God! When we have important decisions in our life, that person writing that devotion doesn’t know our lives the way God does.

I’m not saying to avoid using other resources to study and grow! However, we need to make sure that the final authority in our lives is God’s Word! If we get to where we are trusting in other avenues, then that is when we begin to learn more from man than God. This can cause us to question our lives and can lead us into faltering when faced with obstacles that we encounter! We are faced with decisions everyday that we can learn from. Using God’s Word to learn from those decisions is what can help us in making better decisions in the future. If you encounter something unplanned today where is the first place you are turning?

God bless you today!
