March 14 Devotion: Past, Present, and Future

Titus 2:11-13

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

In the past, Jesus Christ came into the world “full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) He “hath appeared” (past tense) and brought us the only way of salvation when he suffered, bled, and died on Calvary, was buried, and on the third day arose from the dead.

In this “present world,” we are taught by God and his word how we should live. We are to deny the world and its ungodliness and live a life of sober seriousness, righteousness, and godliness.

We should be looking into the future as we anticipate the second coming of Jesus Christ. He will come for his church in the rapture and return seven years later to rule the earth for 1000 years. He is coming soon.

I would ask the question: What is your past, present, and future focused on? If it is not salvation in Christ, living for Jesus, and expectantly looking for his return, then your focus is on things that have no eternal value. Consider your priorities and focus on the Lord.
