May 1 Devotion: Going To Jesus First

Going To Jesus First

Mark 5:25-28 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, [26] And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, [27] When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. [28] For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

As. Bro. JD preached out of these verses yesterday I couldn’t get this thought out of my mind. What could’ve happened had she went to Jesus first? She could’ve saved a lot of money. It tells us in verse 26 she had spent all she had. It doesn’t matter how much she had it says she spent it all. She could’ve saved a lot of heartbreak. No doubt that as she went to each of those physicians she thought this was the one that had the answers she needed. Only to end up heartbroken each time when instead of getting better she got worse. She could’ve saved herself some time. She dealt with this for twelve years! She continually tried everything man had to offer only to have wasted all that time and still be in the same condition she started at. She could’ve had some hope. I can’t imagine the hopelessness she had after spending all she had over twelve years and finding nothing in the end. That was all until she gave it to Jesus! What are you carrying around that you need to just give to Him? If we’re honest we all have something in our past that we struggled with, something that burdened us down. All until we got hold of Jesus and just trusted Him with it. Have you ever thought to yourself about why you didn’t just trust Him with it first? It might be too late to give it to Him first with what you have now. Don’t let that keep you from relying on Him. Give it to Him and then next time make sure trust Him with it from the beginning!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
