May 10 Devotion: Have You Moved On?

Have You Moved On?

There were some rather large tornadoes that ripped through some areas early Tuesday evening. There were some early reports of people that had unfortunately lost their lives from these storms. Later that night I looked up a couple news sites and could find nothing about them. I remember when an outbreak like that occurred it would be very easy to find information about it. It was a big deal when you’d have multiple tornadoes or multiple days of tornadoes. Did you know there have been somewhere around a dozen people killed by tornadoes over the last week or so? You just don’t seem to hear about it the same way we used to. Seems like it’s just not something that is that big of a deal and we just move on past it.

This made me truly wonder if we’ve done the same thing in a spiritual sense when it comes to salvation. I’ve heard our pastor say that he can remember a time that if someone didn’t get saved that people would be at the altar praying it wasn’t them that hindered anyone. Move ahead to today and it seems that the preacher can preach on salvation, no one get saved, and everyone leave without a care. Those of us born again might have a desire to see people get saved, but do we truly care enough to be burdened about it? The Lord desires to see everyone saved.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

For us though it seems as if apathy has moved in when it comes to those that are lost and their salvation. It feels like we’ve just moved on in a sense. I don’t know if we just think that either they will or won’t get saved and we can’t make them or what, but it really don’t look as if we care too much either way. Maybe we have become weary in well doing. I think we want to see people get saved, but we just aren’t really burdened by it.

Have you moved on? Do you care about others salvation? Do you care enough to be burdened to see people born again or do you just care enough to say you’d like to see them get saved?

God bless you today!
