Tone
Psalm 26:7
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.
How often do you give thoughts to your voice? Not just the sound of your voice, but its tone. Think of the difference on how even a voice of thanksgiving can be. Someone can tell you thank you and based on tone you can tell how thankful they truly are, if it’s just lip service, or if it even sounds forced. Have you ever told your spouse or anyone how much you might love or care for them and they say: but? They express to you that it just sounded like you had something else you was about to add to it. Your tone can make all the difference.
How do you talk to others about the things of God? If someone asks how was your weekend and you tell them you went to church. Does it come out like that was the most exciting part of weekend or does it sound more like it was a chore to go? What about when you tell others about Christ? Do you sound like that person that’s trying to sound shove it down their throat or do you sound more compassionate about their need for a Savior? Think about what we talked about last week with the lady at the well. For her to react the way she did do you think he had more of a compassionate voice or a voice of condemnation. Absolutely there are times He might’ve had that voice, but it was at the proper times. We know when to raise our voice with our kids or if we are mad at someone. It doesn’t take a drastic circumstance like that to make tone matter. Our tone can be just as important as our actual words.
How often do you pay attention to how your tone is when talking to others?
God bless you today!
