May 26 Devotion: Is It The Evil?

Is It The Evil?

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

We are just into the 3rd chapter of the Bible and we see the the serpent causing problems. Evil has been around since the beginning. Evil can come in all forms. A person, an idea, a “movement”, etc. I hear more and more talk about all the evil and wickedness that’s around us. Today is no different than in times past. We could say it is worse so to speak. However, if you was to look back in time you’d find each generation can’t believe how bad things are. You’d hear people then say the same thing you hear now: I just can’t imagine how things could get any worse. There are times though we find in the Bible that evil things that went against the things of God were put into place. These times though you seen men willing to make a stand against them. Think of Daniel making a stand. Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. We could even look back a few chapters at the three Hebrew boys. What about Stephen? He made a stand all the way to his death. Acts 7:59-60 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. [60] And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. We could pull numerous stories out throughout history where people were willing to make a stand against the evil going on in the world. Many of those even making a stand unto their death. Is it really about the evil today or is it more about having no one to make a stand?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
