How Soon We Forget
Psalm 106:13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
You’ll often hear people who have possibly become famous make the comment about not forgetting where they came from. Some may have come from very humble beginnings and don’t want the stardom to go to their heads. As Christians we should be the same way. You might not have been in the gutter so to speak when God saved you. You might have even sit on a church pew your entire life. That should make you all the more thankful for the things He saved you from. Not only can we forget where He found us, but like Israel here we too often forget his works. If you go back and read the verses preceding our text verse you’ll find it talks about some of the things God had done for them. It talks about God drying up the Red Sea and delivering them from those that hate them. Yet, in our text we see that they had soon forgot his works. They also then even wouldn’t wait for His counsel. Everything that God had brought them through yet they wouldn’t trust Him. How quickly do we forget what God has done in our lives? Not even just not trusting Him when our next storm arrives, but how quickly do we forget all His blessings in our lives? Do we daily thank Him for all those blessings? Do we forget about those answered prayers? We pray for something, but do we thank Him when we see those prayers answered or do we just go on about our day like it was just required of Him to answer so it was no big deal. How quickly do you forget about God and His works in your life?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
