What If We Prayed Instead?
Exodus 17:2
Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
Have you ever mentioned something you’d like to do and someone says, “what if we do this instead?” How many times have you mentioned something you’d like to eat and your kids or spouse or someone says they’d rather have something else? Seems like there is always “something” else out there to do or try.
Then what if we truly tried praying instead? The next time we find ourselves at a place like Israel was what if we prayed instead of complaining? The next time we need help in a decision what if we prayed instead of trying to work it out on our own? The next time we are faced with a battle what if we prayed first before trying to fix it? The next time you have that family member/friend/co-worker that does something that irritates you what if we prayed for them instead of talking about them?
It seems to be our natural reaction to just always react! Those reactions are what can cause us to say or do things we will regret and could even cause us to lose our testimony. We should strive to stay in that mindset of prayer and always pray before reacting!
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
Prayer isn’t about being on our knees 24/7. It’s about a mindset that we are given to God in all things. Then when the world tries to throw things at us we don’t have to get right or get back into fellowship with Him before we can pray. It’s that mindset that can help us rejoice more and have the joy that the world strives for. When we’re in fellowship with the Lord we can rejoice because we know that no matter what happens He is still in control. Don’t allow prayerless gaps to take place in your life. Those gaps can lead us to react like Israel did so often by complaining, etc instead of praying and relying on God first and foremost.
God bless you today!
