Nov. 10 Devotion: God Says It’s Wicked

God Says It’s Wicked

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

A verse we often hear brought up in reference to praying for and seeking revival. We hear so much talk about how if we’d pray and seek Him how He would send revival and change our country. What about turning from our wicked ways? See I think too often we’d say that we aren’t wicked. What makes our ways wicked? When you look at the word wicked one of the definitions is morally wrong. One could look at an addict and think I don’t do that cause that’s wicked so I’m not that bad. Couldn’t the addict then look at someone who’s cheated on their spouse and say they’ve not done that so they aren’t wicked. What of that one then looked at a murderer and say I’ve never killed someone so I’m not wicked either. Why do we think it’s ok to classify sin into certain categories? Yes there are different penalties for different things, but sin is still sin. Doing wrong is still wrong. James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

We’ve reached a point where we want to justify our sin by claiming we aren’t as bad as the next person. We don’t classify our sin as wicked cause it’s just a “little” wrong. It’s hard to turn from our wicked ways when we want to classify others as wicked and then consider ourselves as just not that bad.

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
