II Sam. 6:12-15- And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
13 And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
David is found here full of jubilation as he brings the Ark of God to Jerusalem. In verse 14 he has a good case of the “can’t help it’s”! Verse 13 tells us why: 1 pace = 5 ft.; 6 paces = 30 ft.
*many writers believe that they stopped EVERY 6 paces to offer sacrifice in order to atone for their prior mishap and to show their gratitude for God’s present mercy.
**it was 5 miles from Gibeah to Jerusalem, they would’ve offered 1760 offerings per mile which totals 8800 sacrifices! After worshipping that much, he was so full of God that he gave it his all!
With All His Might!
*we should…
1. Witness with all our might!
2. Warfare with all our might!
3. Worship with all our might!
4. Work with all our might!
5. Weep with all our might!
*for…
a. Sinners
b. the Soiled
c. The Sanctuary
6. Weather every storm with all our might!
7. Watch with all our might!
*One can’t give all their might unless they’re…
-Clean!
-Clear!
-Committed!
-and pay the Cost!
Will you my dear friend be willing to give all your might for Jesus’ Glory today? It is my prayer that we all do.
