Is Our Unbelief A Hindrance?
Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Luke 5:20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
We have two stories here in the Bible that deal with faith. In Luke we have the men that brought the one sick of the palsy to Jesus to be healed. We know the place was full so they had to make a way in the roof to get this man to Jesus. That gets us to our text verse in verse 20. Jesus saw the faith these men had in knowing that all would be ok if they could get to Jesus and they didn’t let anything stop them. The story in Mark we have a man that has brought his son unto Jesus for Him to cast a spirit out of him. Jesus tells him in verse 23 that if he believes that all things are possible to him that believeth. We then get to our text verse. This man believed, but he also had some unbelief. We all have lost friends, family, co-workers, etc. We spend time praying for them, hopefully sharing the Gospel with them, and inviting them to church. Do we do all we can to see the Gospel get to those around us? Do we put forth that same effort that the fellas did for the sick man? Do you have friends or family that you ever invited them to church and just think in you heart that it’s a wasted breath because you don’t think there is a chance they are going to come? Have you ever witnessed to someone for the tenth time and you still don’t think they are going to trust in Jesus. Have you ever not talked to someone about the Lord just because looking at them you didn’t think they’d be interested? We claim that we believe the Bible. Do we truly believe that God can save anyone? We see the people that were changed in the Bible. There are people in this world from all walks of life that God wants and can save. God sent His son to die for all. It’s His desire that everyone would turn their hearts over to Him. Jesus told that father that that all things were possible to him that believeth. Are we letting our unbelief get in the way? Are we letting our unbelief keep us from witnessing or praying for others?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
