When Your Name Comes Up
Genesis 17:5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
We know this is where we see Abram get a name change. This is just one example. We could pull out quite a few more that seen their name changed. This was typically done based on who the person was. If you’re name didn’t fit you it would get changed. We know many times these changes took place like it did here when God would change their name. What about your name? I’m not asking you to go research your name and see what it means. If your name comes up in conversation with others what kind of reaction does it get? Does your name carry a positive or negative connotation? Does your name bring a snarl or a smile to others faces? Each one of us could take a few minutes and just think of some random names. Each of those names will bring someone to mind, and each of those people will bring some sort of reaction by you. What reaction does your name get? There are a lot of trivial things you might think of. You might know a team someone is a fan of and that will come to mind. You might hear a preachers name mentioned and immediately know if you like their preaching or not. What about their character? That’s the most important thing. Same goes for us. What do others think of our character? When your name comes up, what reaction does it get?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
