Nov. 22 Devotion: An Arrogant Disregard

Arrogant Disregard

Luke 15:12

And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

When pastor preached from this text on Sunday something really stood out to me again. We’ve all heard and know this younger son was not entitled to what he wanted. I’d venture to guess that he knew this as well. It is built within us to know right from wrong. However, he didn’t care about that. He knew what he wanted regardless and went and asked his father for it just like he was entitled to it. That entitlement has infiltrated our world today. We have people that aren’t worried about right or wrong. They are only concerned about what they want and they are going to do whatever it takes to get it. They have a blatant arrogant disregard for what’s right. Do we live our lives that way? There might be things we want, but are they right?

1 Corinthians 6:12

All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Do we seek God in all walks of our lives and what may be best for us or are there certain things we are just going to do regardless. Do we have an arrogant disregard when it comes to certain things? Think of it along these lines. When it comes time to go to the house of God are you going if you aren’t truly providentially hindered? Are you skipping if you have something else you’d rather do? We can sugarcoat it all we want but plain and simple when we choose our ways over Gods ways we show an arrogant disregard!

God bless!
