I Kings 18:21– And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
This verse sums up the testimony of many who claim to be Christians. They are so afraid they’ll be looked at in a wrong light or judged for their stand that they choose to be “neutral” and make no stand at all. Their failure to stand up and be accounted for doesn’t make them noble but just the opposite… a hypocrite; thus causing them to sin before God.
The Sin of No Response!
*failing to answer showed they…
1. didn’t Care!
2. were Comfortable where they were at!
Note: 3 years without rain hadn’t caused them to turn back to God!
3. were Consumed with worldly matters!
4. were Convinced they were okay!
5. had no Confidence in authority!
Note: had they respected Ahab they would’ve quickly followed Baal; likewise, had they respect for God’s man they would’ve embraced God’s Word!
6. Couldn’t see the difference!
The sin of no response applies to any individual who idly sits by and does not make a concentrated effort to stand for the things of God. May the Lord help us to take every advantage to bring Glory to Him!
